In Career Mode, these could be earned through various methods, e. Laws are a tedious business and counting coppers is worse. I wouldn't say perks necessarily, but definitely the stats should be expanded such as Fight Night with stats such as the breakdown of individual punches, cuts and swelling, chin, heart. And in MMA there are tons of stats to be exploited, Having everything lumped into single categories is no good, like by my understanding, a fighters chin rating is tied to the cardio factor in the UFC games.
And stuff like this makes for inaccurate displays of fighters Examples of mishaps with stats: -Bj Penn's cardio is low which is accurate, but I haven't seen BJ ever knocked down or rocked for that matter, his chin rating should be in the high 90s while his cardio is accurate in the 70s -Your example of Bas Rutten's left body shots, while there's no evidence that his is better than anyone else's, he should have higher stats in his body shots just out of respect towards him like respect would be given to Cro Cop's left kick high and low.
My Sig. Rhyswr Topic Creator 9 years ago 3. Perhaps "perks" wasn't the best terminology to use. I think that "traits" would probably be more accurate actually. I wasn't saying that Bas Rutten's liver shot was necessarily better than anyone else, but he is synonymous with the liver shot in MMA.
Chances are that Rutten probably wouldn't even be in the game, I was just using him as an example of a fighter who is very well known for a certain facet or style to his game. I do have to agree with you about the way that some of the stats are tied in however, so I do agree that an overhaul of the stat categories is probably in order also.
The Chin factor definitely needs to be in there. Maybe not as a trait.. Take away offense and defense ratings and just make a unified Standing Strikes, Clinch, etc, etc. Chin Rating is IMO a huge step towards taking this game to the next level. It is what will determine different play styles since there's no reason someone like Stefan Struve should be able to KO Roy Nelson or Nick Diaz should get flash knocked out just as easily as any other fighter. I could imagine something similar, at the beginning you could pick a good trait and receive a bad one to balance it out.
